The MGA Board of Directors provides governance, accountability, and strategic leadership, while also serving as a working board that actively contributes time, expertise, and resources to advance the organization’s mission and programs.
Board members actively contribute their time, skills, and professional expertise to help carry out the organization’s programs and initiatives. Board members participate in committees, assist with events, support outreach and partnerships, and help advance strategic projects.
We are actively seeking dedicated mission-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors.
MGA is committed to advancing the field of aging through education, advocacy, and professional collaboration. We are recruiting board members who are enthusiastic about strengthening the organization, expanding membership, and supporting the continued growth of our statewide impact.

Desired Qualifications
WE WELCOME APPLICANTS WITH EXPERIENCE OR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUNDS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

FINANCE, BUDGETING, & COMPLIANCE
Individuals with demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting financial statements, overseeing organizational budgets and projected budgets, managing or supervising IRS nonprofit filings (Form 990), maintaining state charitable registration and compliance requirements, advising on financial strategy and sustainability.

MEMBERSHIP GROWTH & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Individuals who are enthusiastic about increasing membership engagement and retention, identifying opportunities for organizational growth, strengthening MGA’s visibility and value across Maryland.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING
Professionals with experience in strategic business development, marketing, branding, or communications and outreach to partners, sponsors, and community stakeholders.

GRANT WRITING & RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Individuals who can support the organization’s fundraising efforts by helping to identify, develop and secure grant funding, by providing strategic guidance on grant opportunities, assisting with researching and reviewing grant proposals and strengthening relationships with foundations and funding partners.

TIME COMMITMENT
As a working board, directors are expected to actively participate in committee work alighted with their skills and interest and attend bimonthly board meetings, monthly committee meetings and participate in the Annual Conference.

TERMS
Terms of service are three years. You may seek a leadership position after 1 year of service.
